The day will honor  Jack Timmerman and Calvin Verduga who tragically passed away too early. The young men were athletes and students at Randolph High School and actively involved in the community. Their lives were cut short, but their commitment to volunteering and excellence lives on. Funds raised will support the work of Beyond the Walls, a local nonprofit, among the scavengers of the Guatemala City garbage dump, the Native Americans who live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and homeless families and men in recovery right here in Morris County.

Last year’s event funded a concrete-block home for a hard-working scavenger family in the Guatemala City garbage dump community. That family, too, had lost a teenage son in a tragic accident at about the same time Jack and Calvin died. Calvin’s mother, Alma  and sister were able to help with the construction of that house, which has a permanent plaque honoring Calvin and Jack.
